This is a photo of a mighty Cedar Elm in July 2019 after it pushed out Spring growth. Really excited to see the tree wake up this year and respond well to the location in the nursery. The tree really enjoys consistent watering and fertilization.

This shot of the Cedar Elm from January 2019 after it was planted in a large grow box. When collecting trees, we typically construct a grow box from salvaged scrap wood. The box allows for plenty of substrate to encompass the roots giving plenty of room to grow new roots.

In this photo, you can see the characteristics of the tree which attracted us it. The location where it grew was located next to a stock pond. Over the years, many cows passed by this growing plant and chewed back the growth keeping the branching lower and compact. The specimen has grown many lower branches with absolutely crazy movement in them. Looking to preserve this lower growth and work to bring it out in the future design.

Our close friends and family, the Myers pictured with their future bonsai in front of the Ranch House. Pictured are Ian, Renata, and Norm. Through a high school relationship, Brandon's close friend Chris Myers ( @sharkysnap) has allowed Hawk Eye to cultivate a few Heritage Bonsai to strengthen the legacy of their 200 acre ranch in Burton, Texas.

Here is a shot of the tree after we dug it out of the growing location in the field. It was really close to the stock pond which encouraged tons of root growth. After we created the initial trench, it was more of a washing than a digging motion to free up roots.

Hawk Eye Bonsai focuses on fun and enjoyment. Here is Brandon Baldauf and Roland Lopez after a fun day of collecting Yamadori at the Burton Ranch.

From our initial scouting of the Burton Ranch in 2018, this photo was taken in March of 2018.

Contact Hawk Eye Bonsai to start or enhance your Ranch’s legacy with our Heritage Bonsai Service. We will start by surveying your property to identify potential specimen. From there, in the following Winter, we will schedule trips to collect the trees. Over the development of the bonsai Hawk Eye will work with the ranch owners to design and build a location on the ranch property to house and display the collected bonsai(s).
